While usually quiet and reserved, Shouto possesses a moderate level of arrogance which, combined with his solitary tendencies, sometimes makes him take initiative without considering the opinions of others, while displaying a confidence that he could take on any obstacle with his own strength. While he's come out of his shell over his first year at UA, even in the present, Shouto seems to prefer acting alone—although only for practical purposes, since doing so allows him to unleash his full power without having to worry about friendly fire. Calm and composed, yet brutal in combat, Shouto is well-grounded on the ethics of heroism, only wishing to subdue his frozen opponents as opposed to killing them by prolonging their freezing. Shouto is a moderately tall and muscular young man, and is well-built for his age. He has medium-length hair with long fringe that's evenly split between two colors: white on his right side and crimson on his left (with this unusual coloring attributed to his quirk). Another result of his quirk, he possesses heterochromia iridium, which causes his left eye's iris to appear turquoise, while his right is a dark gray. He has almond shaped eyes, usually cast in a reserved light. Additionally, he has a large burn scar across the left side of his face, which reaches from his hairline to halfway down his cheek. He usually wears a serious expression, but despite this, several of the girls in his class have claimed that he is handsome, with Mina Ashido even going so far as to say that he's the best-looking guy in Class 1-A. Shouto had a deep loathing for his fire abilities, which he inherited from his father, as it symbolized the man's wickedness towards himself and his mother, and solidified what he was born to be: a tool to surpass All Might. This was a fate that he detested and as such, Shouto decided to rely solely on his freezing power, vowing to never use the other half of his Quirk in battles, and even going so far as to cover his left arm and torso with ice in his first Hero Costume to symbolize his rebellion against his father.
